GWERU-BASED Premiership football side Chapungu United and mobile network service provider NetOne renewed their vows, giving the airmen wings to make a big impression in the ongoing league marathon. Coach Rodwell Dhlakama’s men started the season with an imposing 5-0 drubbing of Bulawayo Chiefs last weekend and the sponsorship package of RTGS$170 000 they received yesterday at Josiah Tungamirai Airforce Base is likely to motivate them further.

Chapungu host fellow uniformed forces Black Rhinos at Mandava tomorrow and Dhlakama said the new sponsorship package came in at the right time to boost his players’ morale.

Rhinos are also sponsored by NetOne.

“We need this kind of motivation to have a good impact on the league and I think this will help us achieve the objectives of the team, which initially is a top six finish.

“This is a derby and my bosses do not want to lose to Black Rhinos, we have never had problems in beating Black Rhinos and I think we will do that again,” said Dhlakama.

Chapungu’s chief executive Elisha Masakadza expressed gratitude over the package and also assured club supporters that the team will be back playing at their fortress (Ascot) in the not-so-distant future.

“Among other things, this sponsorship package will take care of the winning bonuses of players, which is a motivation on its own and we are very happy with the sponsorship package.

“Ascot Stadium is owned by Gweru City, but I want to assure the people of Gweru that playing at Mandava is a temporary measure and very soon we will be back at Ascot so that they can watch their team in action.

‘There is some work being done at Ascot and soon it will be ready,” said Masakadza.

NetOne chief executive Lazarus Muchenje said they are happy to be associated with Chapungu because of their exceptional service excellence.

“We want to be associated with people who do not damage our brand and the way Chapungu, their players and coaches conduct themselves motivates us to continue associating with them.

“I also want to clarify that those who are paying with One Money at any stadium in the PSL will pay half price and the difference will be paid by NetOne,” said Muchenje.
