FC PLATINUM have said central defender Gift Bello remains their vice captain contrary to reports that emerged on Tuesday that he had been stripped of his leadership role.
The club said Bello will continue to deputise skipper Petros Mhari and in the event the two are not available Kelvin Moyo will lead the team.
Coach Norman Mapeza and club spokesperson Chido Chizondo said they used veteran forward Mkhokheli Dube at Press conferences in Tunisia, but it did not mean a change among the captains.
“Bello is still my vice captain, deputising Mhari. I only went with Mkhokheli to the pre-and-post match conference in Tunisia for other reasons which had nothing to do with changing or dumping anybody,” said Mapeza.
Chizondo concurred with his coach.
“I think, maybe, there was a misconception or the explanation wasn’t well articulated. The coach went with Mkhokheli for interviews mainly because of his communication prowess, not that Bello has been dumped,” said Chizondo.
“He is still the club vice-captain and all the players know that and are content with it.”
