FORMER champions Chicken Inn have set themselves a target to lift this year’s Premier Soccer League title after bringing in five new players from rival clubs.
The Gamecocks have acquired the quintet of Clive Augusto from Ngezi Platinum Stars, ex-Bulawayo City’s Sipho Ndlovu, Malvin Gaki from Harare City and the duo of Panashe Mutasa and Bret Amidu who featured for giants Dynamos last year. Club secretary-general Tavengwa Hara and coach Joey Antipas yesterday said they are setting their eyes on the big prize this year.
“This is a team that has been in the top four many times in recent years and the only way to show that we are improving as a team is by winning the title,’’ said Hara.
“We are not mincing our words, we want the title.
“Getting any other position in the top four again, which is not number one, doesn’t really show that we are getting any better. We have done that several times.’’
The Gamecocks have so far released strikers Collins Dhuwa, who has joined Triangle on permanent basis, and Kudakwashe Gurure whose contract has expired. The 2015 champions will step up their preparations next month with a tour of Malawi where they are expected to feature in a four-team tournament.
