FC PLATINUM have issued an apology over the altercation between coach Norman Mapeza and vice-captain Gift Bello at Mandava on Saturday. The incident marred the Zvishavane heavyweights’ successful afternoon when they sealed qualification for the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time in their history. The club has also revealed they will be willing to extend the defender’s contract which runs out at the end of this month.

Bello has been heavily linked with a return to his old side Dynamos.
Club media liaison officer Chido Chizondo said the club had begun engaging the player with a view to renew his contract.
“His contract is ending at the end of this year but we are already negotiating a contract renewal with him, he is part of our Champions League squad and there is no way we would want to lose him.

“Gift is a first team player and the club want him so we are definitely going to renew his contract, the technical department expressed interest in having him on board long-time ago that is why we have opened negotiations to retain him,” said Chizondo.

The club also issued an apology over the incident last Saturday.
“We wish to apologise to our valued supporters and stakeholders for the altercation that took place involving our head coach

Noman Mapeza and Gift Bello after the match against AS Otoho D oyo.
“Whilst the full investigation to ascertain what triggered the scuffle are still being conducted, FC Platinum will make it abundantly clear that it does not condone any acts of violence at any level as it is not a reflection of our Values and Ethos,” reads part of the statement.
