Chisora’s fight confirmed

Dillian Whyte laughed off threats from Zimbabwe-born heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora and his new manager David Haye at a tense Press conference on Thursday.

Heavyweights Whyte and Chisora were quick to renew their rivalry upon the announcement of a rematch on December 22 and joked about again flipping a table across the room as they infamously did two years ago.

Whyte says “donkey” Chisora has already lost a quarter of his earnings for their December 22 bout by signing with Haye.

The bad-blooded rerun will be almost two years since their fight-of-the-year contender that the Brixton Body Snatcher edged on points.

Whyte, who won the first fight via split decision, called Chisora a “donkey” then said: “You can’t intimidate me Dereck, I’m not scared. You threw a table and it didn’t bother me.

“There’s not an ounce of fear here. I have a bit of respect, I’m an animal lover.”

At The 02, on the same night Josh Warrington defends his IBF featherweight title against Carl Frampton in Manchester, the two giants collide again.

Finchley star Chisora signed a management deal with old enemy Haye to get himself in shape for the fight. But Whyte insists it was a costly career move, he said: “I am in this game to give fans proper fights that they remember 50 years after I am done.

“Me and Dereck have the right chemistry, it was a good fight but his time I will knock him out.

“Dereck is a real life donkey, he teamed up with David Haye and ended up with a worst deal than before. He’s handing him 25 per cent of his money.”

During early negotiations for the repeat row, Whyte labelled Chisora “deluded” and the retired Hayemaker an “ego-maniac”.

But Delboy, who has since rebranded himself War, says he is in a new frame of mind for this fight after ditching wild ways.

The veteran even got his mum’s blessing for his new business partner but he threatened to turn nasty and disappoint her if Whyte threw too many verbals around.

Chisora, who launched a table at Whyte in the build-up to the first fight, said: “I am so excited about it. I think if i am going to make it to the top I am going to need more help, so I approached the Hayemaker.

“Even my mum even thought it was a good idea, she said ‘go for it son!’

“It is not going to be boxing, it is going to be war. We are going to seek and destroy.

“I am born again so there is no bad blood but if he says the wrong words the table could be flipping.”

Chisora, who was born in Zimbabwe in Harare’s high-density suburb of Mbare before he relocated to England to join his mother at the age of 16, also looked across the table and said: “There are not enough men here to hold me back, if you get personal,” but Whyte erupted with laughter.

Whyte was again laughing when Haye, who has recently been named the manager of Chisora, claimed: “Chisora will show something that he’s never shown.

“I don’t want to scare anyone but this guy has untapped reserves.”

The allure of an April 13 date at Wembley Stadium opposite world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua looms, and Whyte claimed that he has already risked a shot at the top prize by accepting difficult fights.

Chisora disagreed, saying: “The guy from Australia? I knocked out Lucas Browne (in sparring) wearing 22oz gloves. He wasn’t a risk.

“Joseph Parker? My nephew beat Joseph Parker.”

The new alliance between Chisora and Haye, who fought in a bad-tempered bout in 2012 won by the latter, was also the source of ridicule by Whyte.

“Dereck is the real definition of a donkey, he teamed up with David and got a worse deal,” Whyte said. “Why would you go and give David 25 per cent of your money?

“Maybe David will give you emotional support.”

Chisora replied: “David will hold my hand on the way to the ring!”

Before their first face-off since prior to the initial match-up in December 2016, Whyte and Chisora’s respective trainers Mark Tibbs and Don Charles exchanged angry words.

“It makes me a happy man that there is a compassionate person in Dereck’s corner,” Tibbs said.

“Mark, remember your words,” Charles replied. “I am old school. What you have said will bite you on your backside.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn reflected: “It’s always mellow until Chisora loses his rag. I could just see his neck starting to go a couple of times.

“Whyte deserves his credit, he wants to stake his claim for the Joshua fight.”

Meanwhile, Whyte still has a burning desire to “smash” Haye and welcomed the former world champion to come out of retirement for a future fight.

The Brixton man has finally agreed a heavyweight rematch against Chisora at The O2 on December 22, with Haye recently becoming the new manager for his bitter rival.

Whyte sparred with Haye in the past and would happily share the ring again with the 38-year-old, who called time on his career after losing a second fight with Tony Bellew in May.

“The option is there, if he wants it, after I beat Chisora,” Whyte told Sky Sports. “He can roll the dice one last time. I would smash David.

“I wanted the fight from years ago. He looks like he’s a light-heavyweight now.”

Chisora revealed how he tried to interact with Whyte through private messages on their social media accounts, but “The Body Snatcher” says his fellow Londoner was simply trying to incite him.

“Dereck Chisora, he prides himself on trying to freak people out, and being unpredictable, but every time he tries, he doesn’t affect me at all,” said Whyte.

“I just said to him ‘I don’t want to speak to you on DM, because you are famous for putting up a screenshot of people’s messages and posting them.’

“That’s a snitch, and you know what happens to snitches.”

And Whyte and Chisora’s trainers may have been involved in the most heated argument of Thursday’s press conference.

Mark Tibbs, in Whyte’s corner, and Chisora’s long-time trainer Don Charles exchanged menacing glares and serious words as the heavyweight rematch was announced for December 22.

“It makes me a happy man that there is a compassionate person in Dereck’s corner,” Tibbs said.

“Mark, remember your words,” Charles replied. “I am old school. What you have said will bite you on your backside.”
